Ciudad Mujer – Photographic exhibition in Barcelona by Antonio Nodar with the Consulate of El Salvador

The exhibition has the aim to promote and give preponderance to the role of women in El Salvador. It will give a role to women  not only in El Salvador but also in every city that presents debates on the situation with local groups. Each embassy will seek a place to organize the event. Eventually a book will be edited, and its profits will be dedicated to Ciudad Mujer.

612 women where portrayed by photographer Antonio Nodar from different villages nearby and from different social and ethnic groups as they come together in unusual numbers to the opening of the San Miguel branch on December 15-12–2013. The photos will be printed on "canvas or cloth" in 42x30 cm format. They are presented unframed. Each image will have a buttonhole on each corner, so that the pictures will hung and can be built as a fabric or a wall to be adapted to different exhibitions spaces. Each of the 612 woman should be represented to create a sense of community.

Ciudad Mujer is a program promoted by the Goverment of Salvador Through the Ministry of Social Inclusion, in which the fundamental rights of Salvadoran women are guaranteed through specialized sevices such as: sexual and reproductive heath, comprehensive care gender violence, economic empowerment and promotion of their rights. In addition, it has an area of child care for their children, while mothers receive different services.

This program officially began with the first center Ciudad Mujer Colón, located in the department of La Libertat, where the comprehensive care model was implemented for the first time, and followed with the openinig of the headquarters of ciudad Mujer in the municipality of Usulután, department of Usulatán, on the 30th of September of 2012; in addition, in 2013 were opened the headquarters of Santa Ana and San Martin (San Salvador). At the end of this year will open Sant Miguel and Morazán Centers to bring services to women in the east country. The succes of the care model of Ciudad Mujer is due to that concentarates 14 state institutions within the same space which provide different specialized services for woman, ensuring that are addressed in a timely manner, in an atmosphere of reliability and quality.

Ciudad Mujer centers operate only with women staff, that have the sensitivity and professionalism to provide such a worm care needed by its users. Within each one of the headquarters of Ciudad Mujer, there are a few state institutions like:

La Secretaría de Inclusión Social (SIS); Instituto Salvadoreño para el Desarrollo de la Mujer (ISDEMU); Ministerio se salud (MINSAL); Polixcia nacional Civil (PNC); Ministerio de Trabajo y Previsión Social (MTPS); Instituto Salvadoreño de Formación Profesional (INSAFORP); Consejo Nacional de la Micro y Pequeña Empresa (CONAMYPE); Banco de Fomento Agropecuario(BFA) Registro Nacional de las Personas Naturales (RNPN); Procudarudía General de la Republica (PGR); Fiscalía General de la República (FGR); el Fondo solidario para laFamília Microempresaria (FOSOFAMILIA); el Instituto de Medicina legal de la Corte Suprema de Justícia y el Ministerio de Agricultura y ganadería (MAG).
