Project location: ITALY, Rome
Project start date: May 2015 - Project end date: May 2015
Project number: 2015-005
Beneficiary: Instituto Cervantes de Roma

The Instituto Cervantes di Roma is a public institution founded by the Spanish government in 1991 to promote the Spanish language and Spanish and Hispanic-American culture.
The Instituto Cervantes of Rome has been presenting for more than twenty years a regular cultural programming that includes exhibitions, conferences, concerts, cinema to introduce at local public the numerous peculiarities of Spanish and Hispano-American culture.

The project is a conference on Roma culture where a member of the Pere Closa Foundation will play tales and Roma music. The objectives of the Pere Closa Private Foundation are the education and development of the Rroma community in Catalonia to ensure that the largest possible number of young gypsies have the chance to enjoy the same educational opportunities as the rest of the population. An academic education is one of the key tools for achieving equality, and for this reason the Pere Closa Private Foundation focuses its work on facilitating and supporting the education of Rroma children and young people. The intention is to propitiate a positive image of the Roma community, preserve their cultural heritage, and make the rest of society aware of it - all without forgetting the task of empowering the figure of social mediator.

The Nando Peretti Foundation, Delegació a Catalunya has awarded a grant for this project which involves a meeting at the Instituto Cervantes Gallery (Piazza Navona 91) during which Pere Closa Fondation will present the Spanish Gipsy history.
